This 1951 Centennial edition 221 Singer Featherweight runs very quietly and sews beautifully. The finish is bright and shiny. The decals are a bright golden color.
Centennial badged machines are part of a special, small group of 221 Featherweights that had commemorative badges. The Centennial badged machine was in celebration of Singer's 100th anniversary. Other commemorative badged machines include ones for the 1933/1934 Chicago Worlds Fair, the Texas Centennial Exhibition in 1936 and the Golden Gate Exposition in San Francisco in 1939/1940. The red "S" badged machines were not commemorative badged machines.
The photographs are of the listed Singer Centennial 221 Featherweight. It is in good condition as can be seen in the photographs. This machine runs and sews well.
The serial number of this Featherweight is EG646096 which dates this 221Featherweight to May 16, 1951.
The motors on all our Featherweights are reconditioned to assure longevity of the most important part of a Featherweight, the motor. You can read our blog on how we recondition our Featherweight motors here.
All of the Featherweights that we sell have been thoroughly cleaned, serviced, lubricated and tested. The testing consists of the machine going through a final 8 point checklist before being listed. The checklist is given toward the end of the listing description.
There are no missing or broken parts, no grunge to try to remove, and no expensive repairs to be done.
The light and switch both work as does the bobbin winder and the foot control.
The bobbin case is included.
The case is in very good, sound condition with no bad odor. The latches work well. The tray has a different fabric than the case interior.
Unlike US Centennial machines, most but not all, Canadian Centennial Featherweights came with full trays as well as a Bakelite handle. The Bakelite handles became standard on Featherweight cases around 1949/50.
The attachments are shown in the photograph below.
The stitches from this Featherweight are straight and tight with good tension and no skipping of the stitches. A sample of the stitching will accompany the sewing machine. It has been serviced and tested so that you can quilt, sew or proudly display the Featherweight upon its arrival.
