This Singer 222K has a small story to tell.

It is a beautiful 1957 Singer 222 Featherweight that runs on US voltage, has complete decals, has a bright, clean shiny finish, sews very well and runs quietly. This is a gorgeous 222K.

Although this British made Singer 222K came from a small town close to Bordeaux, France the voltage of this machine is 120 volts , the same as the USA and Canada. (See photographs).

Before the late 1950s France electrics operated on 120 volts. In the late 1950s France started converting from 120 volts to 230 volts region by region.
Apparently the Bordeaux region, in the late 1960s, was one of the last areas to be converted.

This Singer 222K with its 120 volt motor may not have been used since the late 1960s when the region converted.

Aside from the wall plug which has been changed to fit USA and Canadian electrical outlets, the foot control cord and plug on the machine are original.
Just plug the cord into US or Canadian wall outlet and you are ready to run the machine and sew.

The serial number is EM235113 which dates the 222K to February 26, 1957.

This machine has been fully serviced, all parts thoroughly checked and cleaned, properly lubricated and then completely tested.
There are no missing or broken parts, no oily, brown cigarette smoke residue or other grunge to try to remove, no expensive repairs to be done, no surprises and no frustration.

The machine runs well, sews well, the light works, the bobbin winder works, hook is timed, the foot control has a range of speed, etc. Everything works as it should.

Singer 222K Featherweights are considered by many to be the best sewing machine that Singer ever produced.
